Artificial Intelligence

AI. Artificial Intelligence. How much do you know about it? But maybe more importantly, how much does it know about you? I decided to find out. ChatGPT is a website using artificial intelligence that allows you to enter a prompt and get a response from an AI program. So, I typed the following into ChatGPT: describe Mike Schafer of Lubbock, Texas in a short paragraph.

I apologize for any confusion, but I don't have information about a specific individual named Mike Schafer from Lubbock, Texas, in my database as of my last update in September 2021. It's possible that he is a private individual or became notable after my knowledge cutoff date. If he's a public figure, local personality, or gained recognition after that time, I recommend checking local news sources or online platforms for more information about Mike Schafer from Lubbock, Texas.

So, now we know artificial intelligence has limited intelligence! Actually, it was a blessing to find out that ChatGPT doesn’t have a clue who I am. But the greatest blessing is I get to walk through today with the One who knows everything there is to know about me…and you!

He has known us from the very beginning! “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb,” Psalm 139:13.

He knows every one of us by name! And the Lord said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name,” Exodus 33:17.

He knows every move we make! “You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways,” Psalm 139:2-3.

He knows how many hairs are on our heads! “And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered,” Matthew 10:30.

But He also knows all of our brokenness and sin. “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account,” Hebrews 4:13.

In spite of that last one, our God loves us beyond anything we could ever imagine.  He gave His only Son for us. He puts His Holy Spirit inside us. He chooses to do His work through us. I don’t know about you, but that blows my mind. It also brings me great comfort in an age of artificial intelligence. All the intelligence of this world could fit on God’s fingertip with room left over to hold the universe. Rest in that truth this week as you journey through this crazy world.
